Royal Society and RSC Research Funding

The group has recently been awarded research funding from both the Royal Society and the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). These grants will support our research into the application and critical evaluation of machine learning approaches for understanding ligand effects in earth-abundant transition metal catalysis. A particular focus will be on understanding how the electronic properties of metal complexes, including the ability of ligands to participate in electron transfer, influence catalytic reactivity. By integrating experimental data, computational chemistry and machine learning, we aim to establish quantitative relationships between molecular structure, electronic behavior and catalytic performance, ultimately informing the design of more effective and sustainable catalysts.
