Jamie presented at the UK Catalysis Hub Joint Workshop with the Physical Sciences Data Infrastructure (PSDI) at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Harwell Campus, Oxfordshire. His talk, "Data Science and Machine Learning in Catalysis: Challenges and Opportunities", explored how machine learning is transforming catalyst and reaction development, while highlighting the fundamental challenge facing the field: the lack of high-quality, structured reaction data. The presentation discussed the importance of high-throughput experimentation, electronic laboratory notebooks, standardized data formats, and community initiatives such as the Open Reaction Database to enable reproducible, data-driven catalysis research.
